Celiac Shack

Faith over fear. Joy over restriction.
Free while they are still in draft

Read it before it’s finished, and tell me what’s wrong with it.

These are working drafts. They are free to download, and the only thing I want in return is your honest reaction.

I have been writing at Celiac Shack since 2008, and everything below started in my own kitchen after my own diagnosis. Before any of it goes to print, I want it in the hands of people who actually cook this way, because you will notice things I cannot see anymore.

Nothing is locked behind an email address. Download it, cook from it, and come back and tell me what happened.

The Celiac Shack Kitchen

A treasury of naturally gluten-free, whole-food recipes

StatusDraft

Every recipe is built from whole food that was never going to contain gluten in the first place: vegetables, fruit, meat and fish, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs. No flour blends, no gums, no refined sugar. It opens with thirty-seven pages on how to keep a kitchen from making you sick, and what actually belongs on the plate.

PDF, about 2 MB. The photographs are not shot yet, so every recipe shows a placeholder page describing the picture that will go there.

What draft means here

The recipes are written, tested against how I actually cook, and safe to follow. What is missing is 254 photographs and a proper copyedit. You may find a repeated note, an amount that reads oddly, or a step that assumes something I forgot to say. Those are exactly the things I am hoping you will catch.

If you only answer one thing

Here is what would help most.

  1. Cook one recipe and tell me what happened. Not whether you liked it. Whether the instructions matched what your kitchen actually did.
  2. Tell me where you got lost. Any place you had to read a step twice, or stopped to look something up, is a place I wrote badly.
  3. Tell me what is missing. If there is a dish your family has given up since diagnosis and it is not in here, I want to know what it is.
  4. Check me. If something in the front section does not match what your doctor or dietitian has told you, please say so plainly. I would rather fix it now than print it.

Every note gets read. Anyone whose feedback shapes the book gets thanked by name in the acknowledgments, if you would like to be.
